Rick Ellis

Rick Ellis

Owner and Lead Instructor, Brown Belt

I was a founding student at Roy Dean Academy in Oregon, where I trained for four years and earned my blue and purple belts under Professor Dean. As a purple belt my life became somewhat nomadic. I spent a year training at Maui Jiu Jitsu in Hawaii under Rickson Gracie blackbelt Luis Heredia, then a year training in Florida under Roy Harris blackbelt Trent Lewis, followed by four years in Maine, first training under Professor Alexey Cruz, who holds the distinction of being Ricardo De La Riva's first blackbelt, then under Amal Easton blackbelt Jay Jack. Prior to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu I studied Danzan Ryu Jujitsu under Kevin Colton in Los Angeles.

I’m currently a brown belt under Roy Dean. Third Way is a Roy Dean Affiliate Academy.
